FICA 2023 continues to consolidate itself as the industrial platform of the Colombian Caribbean

September 21, 2023

Barranquilla, September 2023 - With more than 3,000 visitors, the Caribbean Industrial Development Fair concluded this Saturday , which took place at Puerta de Oro, Events Center since Thursday, September 14. In its third edition, FICA had the participation of more than 110 national and foreign exhibitors from the industrial sector and exhibited machinery, equipment, capital goods and services, aimed at improving productivity and the development of industries.

The fair, which is organized by Corferias Caribe , achieved a significant commercial exhibition of companies from different segments of the industrial sector in 7,000 square meters. FICA 2023 presented innovative elements such as the One on One meetings , which fostered the rapprochement between exhibiting companies and professional buyers, who demonstrated the success of the activity as a space that generates business opportunities with a short-term closing.

The academic agenda brought together experts from the sector, who discussed topics related to industry 4.0, energy efficiency and industrial robotics, in 36 talks held on September 14 and 15, distributed in three spaces: the Academic Hall, the Innovation Zone and the Industrial Forum.

The Academic Hall was a day that allowed exhibitors to offer specialized talks to visitors; the Innovation Zone, which had the educational institution CEIPA as an academic ally, was a space in which brands with the most innovative products and/or services of the fair were highlighted.

On Friday, September 15, the Industrial Forum took place, a day that, in partnership with El Heraldo, fostered conversations around the industrial fronts of the region: productivity, competitiveness, metalworking, chemicals, plastics, energy and innovation. In addition, it brought together experts who spoke about the fourth industrial revolution, automation and robotics in smart factories.

“We had a fair with more than 3,000 visitors and professional buyers, with nearly 200 business meetings, more than 110 exhibitors over 3 days in which we developed a complete agenda of activities, talks and academic spaces. On Friday, we awarded 10 exhibitors who presented their offer of innovative products and services in the Innovation Zone led by CEIPA and the Mayor's Office of Barranquilla,” said Lorena Núñez, project manager of Corferias Caribe.

About the exhibitors

For Aircenter Compresores , a company that provides European quality solutions in compressed air systems, FICA was the opportunity to make itself known in the region. “I am convinced that I will return in two years to the next version of the fair and, of course, I will recommend my colleagues in the industry to participate in this space. Our experience was very good, very fruitful. We have been in the sector for 23 years, but on the coast many people still do not know us; they thought that only 2 brands offered this product that we came to show, so in that sense it is very positive for us. We are going to open up to this Caribbean market, which is just getting to know us. And all this has been possible thanks to this fair,” said Hernando Romero, general manager of Aircenter Compresores.

CAVAR SA, a company with more than 40 years of experience in the industry, participated in FICA with its HORN brand, where they design, manufacture and market products and tools using fiberglass reinforced plastic (PRFV). “We presented a representative sample of all our solutions at FICA. Here we were able to interact directly with clients with specific needs, and we were able to have a more direct approach with them. I recommend this space because, as a company, it is a truly key showcase for the industrial sector. It allowed us to exhibit what we do and position ourselves in the Caribbean,” shared Wilmar Rincón, coordinator of the HORN industrial ladder line at CAVAR SAS.

AP Engineering, for its part, is a Barranquilla-based electronic security and electronic security solutions company with more than 17 years in the market. “We have several lines of business and we found our participation in the FICA fair to be fantastic because it has allowed us to show a business segment, which is the whole industry. It has been very satisfying for us to be able to show our brand in industrial processes that apply the subject of electronic security,” said José Alfredo Cervantes, lead engineer at AP Engineering.
